Quality Environmental Health and Safety Policy
CEAR provides solutions for the responsible and effective management, disposition, and recovery of electronic assets — protecting the environment, worker health and safety, data security, our clients, and our community. The following commitments guide everything we do:
- Continual improvement — meeting our customers’ needs and all applicable requirements.
- Environmental protection — preventing pollution and protecting biodiversity and ecosystems through responsible recycling.
- Safe, healthy workplaces — preventing injury and ill health by applying the hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards and reduce EHS risks.
- Worker participation — involving workers, and their representatives where they exist, in decisions about our QEHS management system.
- Legal compliance — meeting all applicable legal and other requirements for the environmental, health, and safety aspects of our business, and fulfilling our compliance obligations.
- Clear objectives — providing a framework for setting and reviewing quality, environmental, health, and safety goals.
- Secure asset disposition — managing used electronics through reuse and refurbishment, using data wiping, testing, and redeployment to the highest standard of data security.
- Responsible end-of-life management — handling end-of-life equipment through a reuse, recovery, recycling, and disposal hierarchy, with onsite and downstream materials-management audits across the recycling chain.
- Focus Materials stewardship — managing Focus Materials throughout the recycling chain to final disposition, with due diligence to protect workers, the public, and the environment.
- Rigorous evaluation — driving continual improvement by monitoring objectives and rigorously evaluating our management system.
- Ethical labor standards — prohibiting forced, prison, and child labor anywhere in the recycling chain that handles Focus Materials or customer data.
- Transparent communication — communicating and reinforcing this policy across our company and to everyone working for or on our behalf, as well as to our customers, suppliers, and other interested parties.
