CEAR, Inc. Awarded True Silver Certification by Green Business Certification Inc. for Zero Waste Efforts

CEAR, Inc. Works to Improve Facility Sustainability and Community Health through Resource Management and Reduction

Mather, CA – May 8, 2024 – Today, CEAR, Inc. announced its Mather facility was awarded Silver Certification under the TRUE (Total Resource Use and Efficiency) rating system. Administered by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), TRUE helps facilities measure, improve, and recognize zero waste performance by encouraging the adoption of sustainable waste management and reduction practices, which contribute to positive environmental, health, and economic outcomes.

CEAR analyzed current waste operations and gathered data to make improvements to facilities, procedures, and training. With formalized zero waste policies and data tracking of outgoing waste, over a one year period CEAR managed to divert 90% (7,874,547 lbs) of solid non-hazardous waste from landfills, incineration, and the environment using reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting strategies.

“TRUE Silver certification has provided us with immensely valuable tools and strategies for advancing our goals and reaffirming our commitment to sustainability.” – Paul Gao, CEO

CEAR’s efforts have had a significant impact on the efficiency of our waste collection, resource utilization, and the quality and cleanliness of the recyclable materials that are sent to downstream refineries. Our partnership with local municipalities and the public extends these benefits to our community and the local environment. Special focus centered on environmentally preferred purchasing, training, upcycling of discarded materials, and closing the loop with take-back programs which upgraded CEAR’s overall waste program beyond just downstream management.

“Zero waste is a powerful part of any company’s sustainability strategy,” said Peter Templeton, President and CEO of U.S. Green Building Council and GBCI. “Through their TRUE certification, CEAR enhances their operations in a way that maximizes the lifecycle of every product to promote a fully circular economy.”

Waste affects every part of our communities and effective waste management strategies are critical to ensuring both public and environmental health. By pursuing TRUE certification, CEAR demonstrates a commitment to sustainability leadership by shifting to circular thinking and prioritizing processes, operations and actions to reduce waste and resources throughout their system lifecycle. CEAR is committed to creating cleaner and healthier electronics lifecycle solutions for future generations through waste reduction and elimination efforts.
