Protecting the environment is the reason that CEAR is in business. Our commitment is unparalleled in the e-recycling industry. We understand that environmental issues such as warming and increasing air pollution are concerns that are shared globally. This is why we go above and beyond the general compliance laws set into effect by the EPA.

One of the many ways we set ourselves apart from our competitors is by employing a re-usable metal pallet system we designed specifically to house incoming e-waste. Use of the pallets allows for a significant decrease in the need for shrink wrap which ultimately deposits less non recyclable waste into our environment. We also promote reduced shredding by separating end-of-life waste down to the component level. In addition, we categorize the components into raw materials such as plastic, copper, aluminum, steel, etc. so that material cross-contamination during the small amount of shredding we do is minimal. Reduced shredding also saves electrical energy which can release unnecessary pollutants into the environment. One of the most important aspects of our unique process is that we completely remove all hazardous components from our materials by hand. We do not, and will never use the convenience of industrial machinery which turns the entire electronic unit into powder. Although we know that removing these hazardous materials such as batteries, mercury switches, pilot light sensors and fluorescent light tubes requires extended time and greater manpower, it drastically reduces the amount of pollution released into our environment.

Our goal is for zero landfill and our commitment is to solve our problems locally and act responsibly for global resource protection. Each and every unit is processed and recycled on site at our local facility. Overseas dumping is never an option. We have also adopted a green policy by purchasing recycled goods for our daily operations including paper, packaging, wood and cardboard materials. In an effort to spread our environmental commitment, we actively support product stewardship. This concept addresses the need for making the entire product system environmentally sustainable, by sharing the responsibility among manufacturers, retailers, users and disposers for the entire product lifecycle.
